Quarter 3 Honor Roll

Q3 Honor Roll
Congratulations to our students who earned honor roll or high honor roll for the third quarter of the school year!

Students earning honor roll earned a free meal certificate to Applebee's. We appreciate Applebee's celebrating and recognizing our honor roll students!

As the school year progresses, it becomes more challenging to meet this mark, so we are we incredibly proud of the students who have earned their way onto this list.

Keep up the great work, Panthers!

ILEARN Testing - April 20th-24th

ILEARN
Later this month, students will take ILEARN assessments in math (grades 6-8), language arts (grades 6-8), and science (grade 6). Students have completed rigorous coursework throughout the year to prepare them for these assessments. We are confident that our EMS students will perform well on these assessments!

Students will have four of their seven regularly scheduled classes on these days, with the remainder of the time allotted for testing to be completed. Sixth grade students have one extra day of testing due to science ILEARN testing.

Eating a healthy breakfast, getting at least 8 hours of sleep, and coming to school with a charged Chromebook will allow students to be best prepared for their summative ILEARN assessments.

Testing Schedule
  • 6th Grade - April 20th, 21st, 23rd, and 24th
  • 7th Grade - April 21st, 22nd, and 24th
  • 8th Grade - April 20th, 22nd, and 23rd

Students with additional time and small group accommodations, along with those who may need to complete make-up tests, may at times complete ILEARN testing between April 20th thru May 8th.

We do ask that students avoid absences and appointments on these days whenever possible. Please do not hesitate to reach out to the front office in advance if you know your student has an appointment during this week. Most testing will take place prior to 1:00 p.m.

ILEARN data will be shared with families near the end of the school year as soon it becomes available.

If you have any questions, do not hesitate to reach out to Mr. Lunsford. Thank you!

Save the Date - EMS Awards Day

EMS Awards Day
Our EMS Awards Day will be Tuesday, May 27th, at 9:30 a.m. in the EHS Auditorium. We will recognize students named the most outstanding in each subject area, students who earned all year high honor roll, students who earned academic excellence for the 2025 calendar year, our Spelling Bee champions and runner-ups, student council members, and 8th grade student athletes who participated in nine seasons of athletics throughout their years at EMS. More information will follow in next month's newsletter.

Only select students will be recognized - and seating is limited - but we wanted to communicate ahead of time for those families that may need to prioritize this date on their calendar. We anticipate notifying families of students who will be recognized no later than Friday, May 8th.

This is one of our favorite days of the year, as we celebrate the excellence throughout our school building! Please reach out to Mr. Lunsford with questions.

EMS Summer School - 2026

EMS Summer School
EMS Summer School will be offered from 8:00 to 11:00 a.m. from June 1st thru June 12th this summer for students who are struggling to pass all of their classes and are at risk of not being promoted to the next grade level. Students attending summer school will focus their attention primarily on meeting grade level expectations in mathematics and language arts utilizing online curriculum through the online program, Edmentum. Mr. Garver and Mr. Lunsford will be meeting with students this month who are at risk for attending summer school. Email Mr. Lunsford with questions.

Reminder - Dress Code

As we enter the spring season, please keep in mind our student dress code. Often times, students have out grown clothes that may have met the dress code earlier in the school year. Please review the expectations from the EMS Student Handbook below and reach out if you have any questions.

We have had very few dress code concerns this school year, which is a credit to the partnership we share with our students and families. Thank you for your support!
